We got a lot of things to talk about tonight. Obviously, Tim Pomato from Palmetto is in the house already checking in from Florida. Thanks, Tim. Tim. Thanks for being here. Uh I'm going to move the mic a little closer to Steve and remind him that he doesn't have to level up his voice because it's already there but anyway anyway the Steelers five and eight now let's get right into it we're going to talk Steelers we're going to talk everything Steelers we're going to have the hockey Jesus back on and then we're we're also going to make our predictions for this week there's been a little shuffling of the standings in the NFL pool this week but the Steelers five and eight Kenny Pickett goes down with the concussion you know but the question I have for you guys is is their season officially a Over now.

00:02:05
Cuz a lot of people are saying they're in the hunt. I hear that everywhere. And and I hear both sides of that coin but is their season officially over. You know it is interesting how some people will say they're in the hunt. It is actually a point 02% chance of making the playoffs. Yeah. Yeah. So that's not in the hunt to me.

00:02:25
They're not in the hunt but they're not mathematically eliminated. They're not. So they're therefore their season is not over yet.

00:02:35
Yeah and I guess I mean yeah they got a couple more games to play. I I think their season is over. I mean I I think it's just over. Well I mean they're 98% going to be correct. Right. Right. I mean that's an easy answer. But for look look I guess. Ninety-nine point eight.

00:02:53
I guess the point of me the point of me starting it off like this. Yeah. Is that Mark and I before Steve got here and we were prepping for the podcast and pregaming. Uh when we weren't talking about things that can't be mentioned on on on the air. Uh Mark and I were talking about we went back to something we talked about a long time ago. You know Steelers fans have been somewhat spoiled for the last 20 years.

00:03:14
Hall of Fame quarterback. Always in the hunt. Always going to the playoffs almost always. And now we've got this quarterback going on. And and Mark up a really good point and what he said was you know Steelers fans seem to kind of think that some of the players they have are always better than they actually are and I'll I'll and and I'll I'll segue that into the George Pickens we'll go right to George Pickens before we talk quarterbacks okay so all you hear is George Pickens is a number one receiver George Pickens needs to be in the offense more George Pickens has you know mad skills George Pickens number one George Pickens number one Schwabber tell me what you said when we talked about that well I do believe that George Pickens is going to be a very good player I'd be surprised if he doesn't turn into a pro ball caliber receiver however to say that George Pickens is a number one at this stage of the game is crazy I mean he's got like what two touchdowns he's got I mean is he ever had more than 100 yards in a game maybe once I mean you know just he needs to do more.

00:04:22
That's all I'm saying. Yeah and and I I can't you can't say he's a number one you know. Right. I mean he's not. Yeah.

00:04:32
He might be will he ever be it's possible will he ever be Steve what do you think well he's clearly the number one receiver on this team that's why everybody's the number one receiver yeah because he's the number one receiver on this team you are correct in saying that is he a number one receiver by NFL standards which is maybe different than the Steelers offensive standards which are much lower than the rest of the league I think we all would agree on that and I think you're right I think I think by NFL standards he hasn't proven himself to be a number one wide receiver but he has the height he's got the hands he just doesn't have the ball and I think that's where you saw him get angry last week which we talked about and this week they thrown the ball deep and he catches it so I mean I think they just need to do more of that I I and I think that's the issue with being a number one wide receiver in this league by NFL standards you need to have a quarterback that can get you the ball and who make the effort to give you 10 or 12 or 15 targets a game what do you have eight targets six targets four catches on six targets or something he actually had one of his better games as far as yardage but that's the problem the problem is they're just not targeting him enough so therefore you can't call him a number one wide receiver by NFL standards because he just doesn't get enough targets so so then why is Deontay Johnson the number one wide receiver because from what I've seen I don't think Deontay Johnson is a number one wide receiver.

00:06:06
That that little move he makes and runs backwards every time he catches the ball. He did it again. He did it again. I saw it. However, I think I I think I figured out. I was telling Schrobber this before the show. I I think I figured out what he's doing, okay? And this is actually a big tell for him, okay? When he catches the ball, he had one catch yesterday where he caught the ball and he made that little spin move and took a step backwards and he avoided the defender and got some positive yards and that's because the defender was right on his heels.

00:06:38
That's the same move he makes even when there's no defender within five yards. So, he's assuming there's always a defender on him which tells me he has absolutely no awareness of where he is on the field because he makes that same move every time he catches the ball. A good receiver, just a good receiver, not a number one, has an awareness of where the defender is when the ball's coming that guy has no awareness he makes that move whether he needs to or not he he drops passes I I just I I think he's horrible I I cannot for the life of me figure out why they signed him to the contract they did but that's water under the bridge so that being said and I know you're ready to say something so that being said if George Pickens is a number one you gotta be he's gotta be featured as number one because we don't even really know if he can run Routsla a number one.

00:07:31
We know he's got the hands. We know he's we we think he's got the speed. Mm hmm. Okay? Yeah. And we know he's got the fire. Yeah. They gotta give him ten targets a game. But they gotta they gotta elevate him to number one and make him prove it and why not do that now because the season is over. Right. I don't care what anybody says.

00:07:49
Proving ground time right now. Right and we have we have some comments coming in here. Let's get a couple of them in. Um CD says Pickens has one talent with badline and and weak QB. I I disagree there. I think line is actually getting better but yeah they have been bad yo Kerry yo's in the house whoever we play is the number one receiver for us they catch more Pittsburgh passes than Pittsburgh does well last yeah yesterday they did so what are your thoughts on what I just said well Mark is right I mean they just need to give him more targets he'll be the number one receiver he'll get eight catches and he'll get 100 yards every game if they do that unfortunately the Steelers offense seems to be more predicated on distributing the ball than it is about actually making somebody a number one wide receiver and as far as as far as you know Deontay Johnson is concerned he's just afraid the guy's just afraid to get hit that's the bottom line that's not a football player he's always running backwards because he doesn't want to get hit by somebody and then if there's somebody else there guess what he doesn't like run forward he runs backwards again it's like dude just run up the field and get hit get positive yards or better yet be behind somebody and then you don't have to worry about getting hit and I think they just don't do enough of that personally and I think they absolutely need to feature Pickens and neither of that we'll see this year so hopefully with the new coordinator next year we'll get to see it okay so there's Pickens for you so you know the other question of the day obviously is Pickett Pickett goes down that that that hit by Roquan Smith by the way he slammed him into the ground I mean first of all there was a face mask you could see that and then slammed him right in the ground.

00:09:30
I why that wasn't a penalty is beyond me because it was obvious he was trying to knock pick it out of the game but that being said pick it goes in. His first name is in Tom so. There you go. Who? Oh. Pittsburgh. Right. So Brady. Tom Brady right. Right. So you know we digress on that one. But the the the idea of Trubisky coming in and they all of a sudden they opened up the offense and he throws three picks.

00:09:55
Two of which were horrible. One of which was bad. Um You know where do where do you go from here? I mean we we don't know if Pickett's going to play next week or not yet. Do we did they did they announce they didn't announce it? No they didn't say but I I would have to say it's pretty unlikely. Yeah. You know I I don't know if you know this but he apparently somebody said on the radio today that he's the only quarterback in the league this year that got a concussion and was cleared to come back the same week outside of the the the yeah.

00:10:27
Right. Yeah. So are they really going to say again like okay this guy is really susceptible to concussions but he also from concussions faster than everybody. Yeah okay so let's say it's doubtful. Let's work on the assumption that that Trubisky is the starting quarterback. I I hear a lot of people you know let's bring in Mason Rudolph and see what he can do. I'm one of them.

00:10:50
Yeah I I I'm the one that says look they're not bringing in Mason Rudolph. He's been inactive for the last few weeks.

00:10:57
Trubisky came in and now I don't think Trubisky is the answer. Uh I would call those I would call those throws. They that was rust. Unfortunately. They were bad but he's rusty and I don't know.

00:11:10
I'm not make I'm not trying to make excuses well here's the thing you know I I went back and watched the tape of the game after the game was over and Steve said something that was kind of interesting I I said am I just going to be looking at like a terrible three interception game and Steve was like actually you probably won't feel that way and he was right he actually outside of those three throws played pretty well right so so at the at the same time it's kind of like this like you you also you can't say that you know he threw some beautiful balls like one to Dante Johnson deep yes he did that was a beautiful couple of pickings on the sideline touchdown pass to Fryermouth was nice so we we can't say that he wasn't rusty for those throws yeah true you know what I mean but but unfortunately what it comes down to is when you throw three picks all of which were in the red zone that overrides anything else you've done well it does usually you're right about unless you throw for touchdown pass.

00:12:12
Right right right right you know so you know I I mean look to to me and to be honest I I really to me I I I mean look I don't know what's going on inside a guy's head but to me I was actually really disappointed in Trubisky because I sort of felt like he wasn't ready to come into that game I I I kind of feel like maybe he's sort of like punted on the season you know kind of feels dejected that you know he thought he would get more of a shot to be the starter here and maybe wasn't really taking things seriously.

00:12:46
I I don't feel like he was prepared to come in and try to rescue the team. I I feel like he was just like oh I'm in now. Yeah you could be right about that. Yeah I think there's some truth in that and I I agree with almost everything you said Mark because Trubisky got taken out of the number one role.

00:13:03
So why what makes him think that even if he came back and played well like he would stay there. So a backup like that is is kind of useless really when it comes down to it. But that said actually like the fact that their offense decided that you know the best way to attack that defense was throwing the ball and I just it's unfortunate that Kenny Pickett went down because I would like to see what he could have done with that because he does seem to be a little bit more secure with his throws if I can say that more selective in how he's doing it but I like a gunslinger you know I like when Ben was out there just throwing it around yeah he would make mistakes but you know the the bottom line is in and you know we need to talk about this I hope it's on your list of things to talk about that defense didn't save them at the end of the game that's really what they needed you're you're right about the three turnovers anytime you have three turnovers it's going to be terrible but I mean I think those were the most amount of passing yards by a Steelers quarterback this season so there's something to be said for that against a Baltimore defense so I don't know it's just like everything this team just is not taking a advantage of the situation where they could steal a game they haven't stole any game this year except for maybe that that Cincinnati game in week one and let's face it didn't really steal it it was kind of like yeah and let's and let's also face it too you know the the Ravens were playing with the backup quarterback who wasn't very good and then a backup backup and so and so you know like when the Ravens got the ball at the end of the game and the Steelers had to stop them I mean there was no shot in hell that that quarterback Anthony Brown I think his name is right there was no chance he was going to put the ball in the air right and they couldn't stop him they couldn't stop him yeah they knew they were going to I think that's the bottom yeah and we'll we'll move on to that here in just a second so Schwabber you you put your hands up when you said maybe give Rudolph a shot I I laugh at that only because it's kind of common knowledge that Rudolph is just never going to be the quarterback here well look we we we know that he's never going to be the quarterback here but you know in in all honesty I mean as a Steelers quarterback I believe he has the best record of the three right right he can throw pretty good deep ball as as he did the you know Pickens you know in the in the preseason I always feel like he's never really been given a fair shot you know I mean what do you have to lose throw him in you know who knows maybe you get lucky maybe catch Lightning a bottle maybe a win four straight and go nine and eight and sneak in the playoffs probably not going to happen but what do you got to lose and and you know what if it if that plan goes to **** and you lose four straight okay better draft pick yeah I I I don't know I I just I can't say that I disagree with you but I just don't see them doing that well think think about it this way okay would you agree that Mitch Trubisky is not going to be on the team next year no I I think he is going to be on the team yes you think he'll be on the team next they signed him do a two-year deal right yeah it's a two year deal he's got another year in this contract I don't see them getting rid of him Rudolph's the guy who's going to go because he doesn't have a contract well that's the way sort of I was looking at it is you know do we want to maybe experiment and see can can Rudolph be a better backup than miss Trubisky and maybe he can be no I think they're both garbage I think we already know that yeah and the reality is is which garbage quarterback do you want to throw in there yeah why not with Mitch he's more of a proven veteran and and Rudolph isn't going to be back so there's no reason to give him another try look the chances of of of Trubisky getting hurt in this game against Carolina probably pretty high so he'll probably play by default that's my thought yeah you know yeah so we have another one of the longest comments ever I just had to get this in there Joe says Deontay is not a legit number one I don't know why they paid him he's agreeing with me who else do they have though Boykin Sims you know of course where Pickens is in there they need an influx of talent on the D line the O line inside linebacker Deontay will probably run backwards and drop himself out of town so I had to receive it to the mix you know Joe understands the problem they have too many problems that it could fix right right so the question is he didn't even he didn't even say the most obvious which is they need a better offensive line he did mention the O line well then then he's right on so the offensive line needs an influx of talent they're not going to draft another wide receiver that's that's done they're not going to get a tight end they have a quarterback they have a running back so only place they're going to add on the offense is the offensive line they definitely are going to look at the defense the the problem is they they have the most expensive defense in the league so and they're going to add to that defense that's what's crazy about this this this team right now I mean who are they paying besides what Fitzpatrick and Hayward who are they paying that's exactly all you have to pay right there is 30 that's that's that's 65% of the whole defense I don't know it's it just seems like a lot I mean like well Miles Jack is getting paid some Jack yeah he's getting paid well and of course you know they have to make a decision about Devin Bush next year I mean he doesn't get he's he's like in his last year of his contract but I think he's getting paid five or 6 million you know yeah so I mean well let's let's wrap up the offensive side of the ball Canada Canada.

00:18:52
Is he is he gone next year? I will say this. I I think I only saw one wide receiver running play yesterday. I think there was only one. Yeah. I think there was only one. And isn't that's a sad state where that's what we're getting excited about. Uh huh. DG's in the house. Let's face it. That game was miserable in all aspects.

00:19:09
The Steelers are just not good for many reasons. Right. So. It was a classic game from that standpoint. It came down the you know three points and the Steelers didn't get the three points and the Ravens ran the ball and the clock Yeah. And that was it. Yeah. Yeah and it's a shame. Sixteen how many how many Ravens Steelers games have you seen where it's been like seventeen sixteen.

00:19:29
Yeah I mean. 1314. It was a classic Steelers Ravens matchup. Without the classic Steelers Ravens players. Yeah. Except for Boswell who had a block field. It was it was the same score with without very many good plays. Yeah. Yeah. It it really was. So I'm I'm thinking right now as much as I hate these thoughts but I'm starting to think about the Steelers and the way they run the front office and the way they handle coaching and all of that.

00:19:55
I have this sneaking suspicion that Canada's going to be back next year anyway. I don't think so. Yeah I think you're right. I hate to say that out loud. I hate saying I don't think so. I I think they can't sell that to the fans. They can't. Well they have to make a change somewhere. It's not going to be Tomlin. They'll say it's what's best for Kenny Pickett.

00:20:15
You know they need to have you know the same offensive coordinator learning the same systems. Blah blah blah. I I just don't see it happening. I can't imagine it not happening. Yeah see I and and and I think we all want it to happen. Right. Yeah. But you know there's there's a relationship with Kenny Pickett. Uh they don't like to make changes like that.

00:20:35
I mean but if it doesn't happen though what you're talking about is a much bigger problem than Canada himself. Which is the inability to self evaluate and see where you've made Mistakes and stop the bleeding and make a decision to get better. Right. That that's a bigger problem. Yeah well that that that's all in the head coach and the general manager so.

00:20:59
Yeah. If they can't figure it out then you're right. Although I I do feel from there. Although I do feel I mean we'll have to see. It has to play out but I do feel like they have a better chance of having a better draft strategy next year because you know I know Omar Khan is who he is but I really like this guy Andy Weidle who came from the Eagles.

00:21:22
Right. I thought he was a really good talent evaluator and I think maybe they'll start employing the the right philosophy which they're almost backed into anyway to kind of go offensive line defensive line and start building from within the trenches and improve the team that way. Well that's that's definitely the direction that they need to go back to. And so the the the ongoing saga of whether or not Matt Canada will stick around is not going to I mean he's definitely not going to be fired during the year.

00:21:53
We we can say say that. Um and so let's let's move on here. Um we've we've got a lot of doom going on with this in the comments. Doom and relay. Yeah we got a lot of comments coming in. So holes on defense yes and and we we kind of we we address that when Steve talked about you know you got the you got the most expensive defense in the league and obviously it's a it's a mediocre defense.

00:22:19
It's not horrible but it it just doesn't step up. You know why unfortunately it looks to me like he's going the way of his brother superior talent absolutely when he's healthy best play best defensive lineman in the game probably best defensive player unfortunately can't get healthy and it you know that's his fault because he plays too hard but how are you going to crucify a guy for that you know what I mean his motor never stops so you got Watt you got Hayward who's on the back end of his career you got Fitzpatrick who's not a covered corner he's a safety so where are the real holes yeah you gotta draft the defensive line but you tell me that line backing core is hard I think they're hard corner is weak yeah yeah and those are the positions where you usually are spending your money right you know and they're not and the Steelers haven't in the past 10-15 years spent their money in those positions and I think that's why you're seeing the inconsistency in the defense yeah when Minka makes a great play he's all over the field he's a great tackler but the the reality is it's just like Fryer move right he's making five or six good plays a game while a linebacker is going to make 1516 tackles right in half of them if he's really good behind the line of scrimmage and that makes a big difference in field position and just the overall defensive structure as a whole or if if you can take that guy and by the way I was they did a good job on on covering Andrews but if you can have a linebacker who can cover a tight end like that or or a or a running back out of the backfield that's even a a bigger talent dirt linebackers can do none of that no no they they have no real speed at the linebacking position Hy Smith is a beneficiary of TJ Watt he is he he seem I I do think although the last couple years yeah he's he's an above average linebacker he's good I think he's good yeah but you more than that on that course so but you can't when you spend all that money on on TJ on three other guys right you can't and last thing Steve and I have been talking about this for the last couple weeks every time the Steelers play their special teams are horrible I mean Chris Boswell is a good kicker he's no Justin Tucker but he's a good kicker but other than that their special their punter is terrible 18 yard punt yesterday he can't look they drafted the guy last year he's he's an ox he looks like he should be able to kick the ball 80 yards and he can't kick a ball 45 and you know and and look the only way a team like the Steelers which which can win on any given day they can even in spite of their holes the only way they can really win and be consistent is to play field position and they can't even do that because their punter can't punt the ball when you draft the punter he better be good he better be good I agree with you if you're going to waste the draft pick with no matter what round it's in the the punter better be the best punter in the league.

00:25:30
Right. Yeah. Right? I mean there are plenty you can pick up off the waiver lines and can do with that guys. When when when when he punts the ball nineteen yards and Baltimore who's got a backup backup quarterback and gets it at the fifty it doesn't matter because Justin Tucker can bomb it from seventy. Yeah. Right. I mean that field position in in yesterday's game and special teams are what lost it.

00:25:52
I mean they didn't play great and Trubisky threw. Yeah. But that you know you have good special teams and play that field position game right even with three picks in a close game you're going to have a shot at the end to win it and they had no shot special teams is also about your depth as a football team yeah and they don't have much depth they don't so yeah and it's about you know mediocre guys want you to go out and show that they're tough right and they don't have a lot of that either yeah and you're welcome DG but I wasn't the only one thinking about it either Steve has been thinking about it we've been talking about it what did Pat Pat's in the house LinkedIn by the way Ariza was found not guilty or they're dropping the charges against him so he is eligible to be in the league again oh well thank thank goodness for that thank goodness wait surprise there's still a civil case but so he beat up a woman and he's allowed to play football that's the only way you can get in the league I don't I I don't know that he did like does this come as a surprises to any of us here I forgot about completely.

00:26:58
Have you seen that guy punt though? You know he's got the nickname the punt the punt guy. Yeah yeah.

00:27:03
No he is incredible. In the preseason he had like an eighty yard punt. I don't think the Bills have to worry about punting too. They don't. They really. Oh lately they have. Yeah. But yeah. Okay so let's move on. Let's get on to our picks. Our picks let's get on to our picks. Let's go with last week's. Yeah last week last week Chris threw up a little goose egg. Uh Raiders that ran Steve, Mark, and Chris had the Raiders. We all lost that. Dolphins and Chargers. The Raiders are really bad.

00:27:33
They are. Like to lose to a Rams.

00:27:36
It's it's it's a Travis. And they had like a double-digit lead too, right? Yeah. The the the Raiders were totally in control that game and they just like we're not going to win this. Yeah. Yeah. We'd rather lose. Um. They're they're definitely thinking about draft picks. Maybe the Steelers should be thinking more like the Raiders. They the Dolphins at the Chargers. Steve and Mark had the Chargers. I had the Dolphins, the Bills at the Jets.

00:27:58
I took a flyer on the Jets and boy I was wrong. Uh so that means that Chris threw up a goose egg. Oh oh and three. I was oh and three. Let's go. Mark and and and Steve were two in one. So throwing up the new standings. Mark is 26 and 16. Nipping at your heels. Steve jumped over Chris. Steve jumped over me in twenty fourteen. Steve at one point seemed out of it.

00:28:24
Yep and the mix. Yep and I am twenty2 and twenty and that doesn't add up. Eight and one in the last three weeks fellas. I'll figure that out. I was 22 and 17 so now I'm 22 and 2042. That's forty. That's forty-two. Uh yeah Chris you're you're a mess. Yeah. I'll go back and check this week's game. You still jump me. So this week's games we are picking as I flip through my notebook which somebody gave me.

00:28:54
This notebook's going to be worth a lot of money guys. By the way a lot of money. Right now on Twitter. Still Mason Rudolph. I'm ready to rock. I'm ready to rock. Of course he is. You'll come in ready. Okay. Playing for a job next next week. He's ready. This week's games. Forty-niners at Seahawks on Thursday night. Uh you guys were the winners. So Willie you went first last week. So Schwabber you go first this week.

00:29:18
4-9rs at Seahawks. 4-9rs at Seahawks. Ooh that's an interesting game. Isn't it? Brock Purdy Hall of Fame. I I already got it.

00:29:29
Matter what you say, I know what I'm saying.

00:29:35
Is the running back Kenneth Walker he is still questionable he is active yes did he play this he did not play this week okay so maybe he plays next week that's what I'm thinking I'm going to go Seattle the the Purdy the Purdy train the Purdy train comes to a screeching halt and the Seahawks behind Gino Smith and his incredible accuracy win the game I think the Forty-niners are Purdy. They have Purdy uniforms but Seattle's a better team. Seattle with a victory.

00:30:12
Chris is going forty-niners and Purdy.

00:30:15
Alright. Hall of Fame Purdy. Saturday night. He's a good quarterback. I'm telling you right now. He's hall of fame. He is definitely better than Duck Hodges. I'm I'm thinking like he should just wear sixteen. Uh I'm going with sixteen. Who wore that number? Just kidding. I know. I know. I know. Did he? Jamie Flores says go Eagles. He must be watching on Philadelphia Beautiful. I think we have some we have some people watching on Philly Beautiful. Alright.

00:30:43
Okay. So, Saturday night, Dolphins at the Bills. Now, the Dolphins kind of got the **** kicked out of them last night. Not really. They're just. No. Tua. Did the Dolphins beat the Bills earlier in the year? I think they did. They did. They did. And now this is but this is in Buffalo. In Buffalo. I think Buffalo's kind of going on their stretch run end of the year. Um so it'll close game but I'm going to take the Bills. I think Miami's poised for an upset here but I'm not taking em.

00:31:12
Okay. I'm taking the Bills.

00:31:17
And I'm taking the Bills as well yeah I mean you just can't take Miami in the cold at home their defense is really good I think they'll find a way to keep keep on Tua Tua surprisingly like when he has more than two and a/ 2 seconds is the worst quarterback in the league really yeah and Todd Ross says the Bills by seven I just think that I think the Bills are now they're they're in a more of a must win than they thought they would be. So they they they.

00:31:50
Well I think if they beat Miami I think they've pretty much got a lock solid right on the division. On the division. Right. And then they can start thinking about you know that that number one position. And they're playing at home and Miami's played a couple games. I think anybody needs a buy. I think that team needs a buy more than any. Probably. Probably. Okay and Sunday night game who to thank who to think the Giants at seven five and one at the Commanders at seven five and one buying for a playoff spot.

00:32:18
Who is the better seven five and one? That's right. All take the commanders.

00:32:24
Oh no. I'm riding the Heineke train. There you go baby. I think the Eagles putting the smack down on the Giants kind of sealed their fate. They realized they are not very good. The beginning of the season was an aberration winning games in the last second through mostly luck. And maybe some good coaching. Yeah. But it it it ends. The the commanders are destined to become the sixth seed.

00:32:54
Oh my.

00:32:56
I'm going with the Giants. I told you guys I thought the Giants at the beginning of the season would be would be better than they were. Yep. And I'm tired of rooting against the Commanders. I'm a homer. I'm going with the Commanders. Go for it. Plus I get to watch it on Sunday night. There you go. I get to potentially ruin my Sunday night.

00:33:15
I'm one and oh when watching the game. I am one and oh. I know. The one game that I've watched so far was the game the Eagles. We need to get Martin to come over and he was here.

00:33:23
Pittsburgh Hill showing right? Yeah yeah probably. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. Alright so 4-9rs at Seahawks. Chris has the Niners. These guys have the Seahawks. Dolphins at Bills. We all have the Bills. Giants at Commanders. Mark and Chris have the commanders. Steve has the Giants. That's it for the NFL. Uh we're going to move on to Hockey Jesus presenting his highness the hockey Jesus. Steve here. And we want to remind you. Thank you for listening on American Busker iHeartRadio.

00:33:53
We really appreciate it. You can catch our pie Podcast, on the iHeartRadio app, the Hockey Jesus preaches on the podcast, on the iHeartRadio app, or anywhere you podcast. After every Penguins game, you get a Hockey Jesus update. Look, it's only about three-minute song. Sometimes five if he's a little excited but if you want to catch up on the pens after every game, subscribe to the podcast. So, Hockey Jesus, where are we now? This is a real up and down scene.

00:34:18
Now, all of a sudden, the Pens are playing well. Well, I mean. And they play tonight, right? They they're playing right now. I saw the score. You know, I I won't mention the score just in case you know people want to watch it later like myself. I don't care if somebody wants to post the score in the comments. I already know what it is. Um I'm always following the Pens. Look, I think this team is actually pretty good and here's why I'm going to say that.

00:34:42
Their superstars have come to play this year. I didn't think that Sidney Crosby would be in the top 10 in scoring yet he is. I didn't think Malkin would come out and have the beginning of the season he did playing with Zooker who now is kind of tailed off a little bit but but started the season off really well their defense I think their defense is still still suspect and Petrie actually got a hand injury so he's going to be out for a little while so I think that'll be interesting to see if Pederson can play up on the first line with Letang and LaTang's back like who would expect it like Chris LaTang had a stroke you know has this problem with this probably he might be out you know later in the season still because he didn't really get it fixed he's just managing it but is back already only missed five games after having a stroke they said that the stroke wasn't as bad as his first one which basically means the clock probably was very small if anything and he recognized it right away and took care of the problem probably by up in his meds to to clear out his blood a little bit should you get a star of the game because you came back from a stroke.

00:35:57
Yeah I mean you know well so we could go a lot of directions with this conversation. The answer to that question is yes if it's at home and it it and it keeps the crowd there for another 5 minutes. Sure. Why not? In a game that you've already won. But what about all these theme games? Do do you know Philadelphia does this? Like the Penguins have all these theme games? Like 80s night.

00:36:21
Yeah they do. Yeah they all do. You know they all do it now. Yeah yeah. Like tonight is Pride Night. So you got the alphabet hanging out in the in the PPG tonight. Which is I have no problem with that. But it's just like every night they've gotta have some kind of special thing going on. Now the funny thing is with the Flyers that all they talk about is they gotta start you know focusing on the team instead of what things are going to draw people into the building.

00:36:47
I think it's okay to do them both. You know the one thing I do like is like when they do 80s night like they put up the old igloo. Yeah. Like they have the like the little docs for like the numbers and stuff. That's kind of nostalgia. But you know what I need. And that doesn't take away from the game. I need myself a blooger update.

00:37:06
Pluger update. So. He he never holds it close enough to the microphone. After all this time. I think it worked. After all this time. I think it worked. First of all, first of all, DG says I'm able to watch most of the games but Steve's updates are still great fun. Thanks and thank you for listening to him, DG. We appreciate that. Yeah and I really enjoy doing it.

00:37:25
Uh you know, I like to throw some things in there like, you know, tonight I might talk about the pride sticks and you know, how you can get one of those rainbow stickered ones that they they came out the beginning The other thing that's been driving me lately on a non-hockey note is Crosby's mustache. Somebody somebody's gotta get a a razor to that thing.

00:37:43
Remember when you guys held me down and like cut the the ballet off of my hair. Like it was yesterday. Right? Yep. I think somebody's gotta take a razor and be like Sid the mustache. Yeah. You gotta go. Gotta go. But I guess if it's you know Sid's obviously the most superstitious hockey player who's ever played the game. I think if you were to like shave his mustache against his will he might retirement.

00:38:07
Let's get let's get the Bluger update for Swaver sorry the Bluger update is this Teddy is been not really on fire from he did get his first goal by the way in the past week so he has one on the season my favorite pen play but his penalty kill is is superb I mean he really he really does a great job against really terrible power plays and and really good power plays he just has a knack for knowing where the pups going to be and getting it out of the zone he's great with the PK on the PK Do you know what that means? The penalty kill on the on the penalty kill? Nope.

00:38:41
The on the on the penalty kill.

00:38:44
He doesn't really he doesn't really do a lot of posts. No no you know what he doesn't he doesn't actually he doesn't block a lot of shots either. Usually leaves Carter to do that. He's good in his space. Yeah he like plays up against the boards and he's good at digging digging the puck out of the boards. Wins the 5050 battles. All the time. And he gets the puck out of the zone which is which is actually very difficult.

00:39:06
Very important. So yeah so that's the Blueger update. Um as far as the Pens after they play Dallas tonight they play against they play against Carolina they play against the Rangers and I think they play against the Devils so they're really playing against good talent in their division these are the games that you want to watch 100% sure about that you definitely want to watch the games where they're playing against their division tonight is kind of a fun game because when you're playing against Western Conference teams eh doesn't really matter but they're fun because they're usually wide open by the way that Buffalo team I know they swept the over the weekend.

00:39:42
That Buffalo team is a lot of fun to watch Pat. You should definitely check them out. I'm sure you watch a lot of Buffalo Sabres game still. I'm sure you still remember the Casperitis goal that he scored against Buffalo in the playoffs just throwing that in. There's a name from the past.

00:39:56
Casperitis. And Darius Casperitis. And but that at that Buffalo team I think is going places. But I think they need to get a goalie. They definitely need to get a goalie. Jari's been the big difference in this latest win streak. He's eight oh and 2. He's got he's got points in his last ten. Wow. Um and the Smith is actually been good when he's been playing in the back-to-back situation.

00:40:20
So, that's the Hockey Jesus update. Look for one later tonight after the Dallas Stars game. Hopefully, we'll be talking about a winner. Uh and Pat says he still watches Sabres games and he's got one for you here. He remembers Steve for going deodorant when we moved you guys into your senior year apartment. I do not remember. I'm not sure what I well, he always did kind of smell.

00:40:41
Yeah I mean I was a smelly guy. Yeah. Yeah. You still are a smelly guy. Oh thanks. I don't get close enough for that. So anyway guys. Good thing we're doing this you know at a distance. It is so yes. Yeah. Social distancing. Oh I didn't know that. Never thought I was sitting around smelling us all. Yeah. Well Pat was a little strange. So hey when we get down to Key West Pat no smelling.
